Dutch baritone Rick Zwart made his Royal Opera debut in 2016 as Brühlmann (Werther).
Zwart studied at the Amsterdam Conservatory with Pierre Mak, and is currently studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Robert Dean. His roles as a student include Aeneas (Dido and Aeneas), Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro), Publio (La clemenza di Tito), Filiberto (Il signor Bruschino), Eustachio (I pazzi per progetto), Superintendent Budd (Albert Herring), Minotauros (Phaedra), the title role in Ein Landarzt, Barker (Dove’s The Adventures of Pinocchio) and Father (Garner’s East o’ the Sun, West o’ the Moon).
Zwart’s concert repertory includes the St John and St Matthew Passions, Saul, Mozart’s Requiem and Mass in C minor, Rossini’s Petite Messe solennelle and Fauré’s Requiem. He is a Samling artist and was a prizewinner at the Mozarteum Salzburg summer school.
