Lighting designer Reinhard Traub made his Royal Opera debut in 2003 on Lucia di Lammermoor, directed by Christof Loy. He has since worked on La finta giardiniera (2006) and Lulu (2008), both directed by Loy, and Idomeneo (2014), directed by Martin Kušej.
Traub trained as a graphic designer. He began his lighting career at Schauspielhaus Graz, where he worked with directors including David Alden, Peter Konwitschny, Kušej and Loy. He is currently Head of Lighting for Stuttgart Opera and works regularly with Kušej and Loy at opera houses around Europe and at the Glyndebourne and Salzburg festivals. His many credits in Stuttgart include Falstaff, Nabucco, La Damnation de Faust, Ariadne auf Naxos, Eugene Onegin, Wunderzaichen, La sonnambula, Orfeo ed Euridice, The Fairy Queen, L’Ecume des jours and La bohème.
