Biography

British mezzo-soprano Rachael Lloyd’s recent operatic engagements include the title role in Dido and Aeneas, Aglaonice (Orphée), Miss Jessel (The Turn of the Screw) and Pitti-Sing (The Mikado) for English National Opera; L’Olimpiade for the Buxton Festival; Amastre (Serse) for English Touring Opera, Mme Andersson (A Little Night Music) for Théatre du Châtelet and Meg Page (Falstaff) for Glyndebourne on Tour. Concert engagements include Ravel’s Trois Poèmes de Stéphane Mallarmè with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Handel’s Messiah with The Sixteen and Harry Christophers and Mary in Handel’s Brockes Passion (recorded and released by AAM Records). She is featured on recordings with La Nuova Musica and has sung the title role in Dido and Aeneas with the Armonico Consort (Signum Classics). Other roles for The Royal Opera have included Selene (Berenice)and Wellgunde (Das Rheingold).
