Pavel Petrov



Belarusian tenor Pavel Petrov made his Royal Opera debut in the 2016/17 Season as Pong (Turandot).

Petrov studied at the Belarusian State Academy of Music. In 2016 he joined Oper Graz, where his roles have included Alfredo (La traviata), Lensky (Eugene Onegin) and Prunier (La rondine). He was a member of the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Belarus 2012–16, his roles there including Lensky and Triquet (Eugene Onegin), Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto), Alfredo, Jontek (Halka), Young Gypsy (Aleko), Tsar Berendey (The Snow Maiden), Lukov (The Tsar’s Bride) and Vogelgsang (Der Schauspieldirektor). During the 2015/16 season he performed with the International Opera Studio of Zürich Opera House in roles including Pong, Licone (Orlando paladino), Coryphée (Le Comte Ory) and First Armed Man (Die Zauberflöte). Engagements elsewhere include Lensky in Kiel, Alfredo for Bucharest National Opera and Alfredo and Young Gypsy for Mikhailovsky Theatre, St Petersburg.

Petrov’s awards include first prize at the International Maria Bieşu Singing Competition and second prizes at the Competizione dell’Opera, Tashkent, the Muslim Magomaev International Vocalists Contest and the Stanisław Moniuszko Vocal Competition.
