Patrick Milne

Biography

British pianist and conductor Patrick Milne joins the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme as a conductor and répétiteur in the 2018/19 Season, during which he will conduct scenes from Pelléas et Mélisande and Rigoletto in the JPYAP Summer Performance, act as cover conductor in Phaedra and trainee cover conductor in La Fille du régiment and join the Royal Opera music staff for Die Walküre, Götterdämmerung, The Queen of Spades, Così fan tutte and Billy Budd.

Milne graduated from Cambridge University with a First in Music and took a Masters degree with distinction at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. At Cambridge he founded the Alba Orchestra and conducted symphonic and operatic works and concertos from the piano. During his studies he won prizes for solo performance, concerto performance and chamber music and performed at the Barbican, the Wigmore Hall and Cadogan Hall. He has also studied on the Solti Accademia Répétiteur course in Venice and been Emerging Artist Répétiteur for Scottish Opera, where he worked on La Traviata, Iolanta, The Fiery Angel and Eugene Onegin, was Musical Director and pianist for the Opera Highlights Spring tour and conducted the world premiere of Sam Bordoli’s Grace Notes.

Milne worked for three seasons for Grange Park Opera, where he was Assistant Conductor for Tosca, Jenufa, La fanciulla del West and Eugene Onegin. He has also been Assistant Conductor and Chorus Master for Iolanta and Mavra (GSMD), répétiteur and continuo player for Così fan tutte (Opera Lyrica) and assisted on Hansel and Gretel (Sinfonia d’Amici), La Traviata (Opera South) and Le nozze di Figaro (Instant Opera). He was Musical Director and pianist for Our House in HMP Isis for Pimlico Opera, working with professionals and young prisoners.
