Noa Naamat



Israeli director Noa Naamat joined the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme at the start of the 2017/18 Season. In the 2017/18 Season she directed the Jette Parker Young Artists Summer Performance on the main stage and assisted the directors of La Tragédie de Carmen (Wilton’s Music Hall), Cavalleria rusticana/Pagliacci, The Return of Ulysses (Roundhouse) and Tosca. In the 2018/19 Season she directs Phaedra and the 2019 Jette Parker Young Artists Summer Performance, and assists the directors of Hansel and Gretel and La forza del destino.

Naamat holds an MA in Directing from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and previously studied Theatre Practice at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, as well as History of Opera and Italian Studies at the Accademia Europea di Firenze. Directorial credits include Don Pasquale, L’elisir d’amore and Don Giovanni (Arezzo Opera Festival), Il matrimonio segreto (Baldwin Wallace Conservatory, Ohio), Prima la musica e poi le parole (RCS), La Voix humaine (Studiotheater Belvedere, Weimar) and numerous galas and opera scenes in Italy.

Naamat has also worked as assistant director for companies including Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Vienna State Opera, Scottish Opera, Israeli Opera, Lismore Opera Festival and Deutsches Nationaltheater und Staatskapelle Weimar. She was the apprentice director at Lyric Opera Studio Weimar and at Oberlin’s Summer Opera Program in Italy. She won the Bayreuth Bursary Award and has held an Accademia Europea dell’Opera Stage Director Fellowship and a stage director residency at Shakespeare’s Globe, where she directed scenes from The Merchant of Venice on the Globe stage.
