Noa Naamat

Biography

Israeli director Noa Naamat joins the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme from the start of the 2017/18 Season. In the 2017/18 Season she directs the Jette Parker Young Artists Summer Performance and assists the directors of La Tragédie de Carmen (Wilton’s Music Hall), Cavalleria rusticana/Pagliacci, Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria (Roundhouse), Tosca and Lessons in Love and Violence.

Naamat studied at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and at the Accademia Europea di Firenze, and completed an MA in Directing at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. She has been an apprentice director at Lyric Opera Studio Weimar and at Oberlin’s Summer Program in Italy, and received the Accademia Europea dell’Opera Assistant Director Fellowship. She has worked on theatre and opera productions across Italy, Austria, Germany, Israel, the UK and Ireland and held a directing residency at Shakespeare’s Globe, where she directed scenes from The Merchant of Venice on the Globe stage. She has worked as an assistant director for companies including Scottish Opera, Vienna State Opera, Israeli Opera, Rome Opera and the Deutsches Nationaltheater und Staatskapelle Weimar.

Naamat’s directorial credits include Don Pasquale, L’elisir d’amore and Don Giovanni for Arezzo Opera Festival, La Voix humaine for University of Music Franz Liszt Weimar and Salieri’s Prima la musica e poi le parole at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. In addition, she has directed numerous opera galas and staged scenes for festivals in Arezzo and Lucca.
