Austrian dramaturg Nikolaus Stenitzer makes his Royal Opera debut in the 2019/20 Season as the dramaturg for Agrippina.
Stenitzer studied theatre, film and media studies and philosophy in Vienna and Hamburg. In 2006 he graduated from the University of Vienna completing a thesis on the Situationist International. He has worked as an Administrator at the Austrian Film Museum in Vienna, and as a journalist, editor and theatre critic in Hamburg, Berlin and Munich, writing for magazines such as Theater der Zeit, konkret and nachtkritik. From 2013 to 2017 he was an editor for Max Joseph, the magazine of the Bavarian State Opera.
In the 2017/18 Season Stenitzer became a dramaturg at Bavarian State Opera, working with directors Barrie Kosky, Katie Mitchell, Axel Ranisch, and others.
