English tenor Nicholas Sharratt made his Royal Opera House debut in 2012 as Sam (Ghost Patrol) for Music Theatre Wales in the Linbury Studio Theatre. He has since sung Paris (King Priam) for English Touring Opera in the Linbury and John (Peter Pan) for Welsh National Opera on the main stage. He made his Royal Opera debut in the 2016/17 Season singing with the ensemble in The Nose.

Sharratt was born in Nottingham and studied commerce at Birmingham University and singing at the Royal Northern College of Music and the National Opera Studio. His many roles for Opera North include Lucano/Soldier (L’incoronazione di Poppea), Camille (The Merry Widow), Flute (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Lamplighter (The Portrait) and Pedrillo (Die Entführung aus dem Serail). Engagements elsewhere include Richard (The Devil Inside, world premiere) for Scottish Opera, Fernando (Donizetti’s The Wild Man of the West Indies), Ernesto (Don Pasquale) and Almaviva (Il barbiere di Siviglia) for ETO, Rudolph (Euryanthe) and First Prisoner (Fidelio) for Glyndebourne and Le Châtelet, Paris, Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore) for Grange Park Opera, Brighella (Ariadne auf Naxos) and Albazar (Il turco in Italia) for Garsington, Lippman (Of Thee I Sing) for Bregenz Festival, Ferrando (Così fan tutte) in Tokyo, Nero (L’incoronazione di Poppea) for Early Opera Company and Frederic (Pirates of Penzance) for Scottish Opera and D’Oyly Carte Opera Company.

Sharratt has created many roles for Jonathan Dove, including Soppy Hat (Swanhunter), Adam (The Walk from the Garden) and The Unknown Soldier. He regularly sings in concert, in such venues as Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall, Royal Festival Hall and Royal Albert Hall for the BBC Proms.
