Biography

Irish mezzo-soprano Michelle Daly makes her Royal Opera debut in the 2013/14 Season singing Ninetta (Les Vêpres siciliennes). Daly has previously covered Anna (Les Troyens), Third Innocent (The Minotaur) and Third Nymph (Rusalka) for The Royal Opera.

Daly was born in Dublin and studied at the Royal Northern College of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She has sung Feklusha (Kát'a Kabanová) and Cretan Woman (Idomeneo) for English National Opera, where she has also covered Madame Larina (Eugene Onegin), Third Lady (The Magic Flute) and Vlasta (The Passenger). Her other appearances include Polly Peachum (The Beggar’s Opera) with European Opera Centre and Mystery (Purcell’s The Fairy Queen) at Snape Maltings, where she appeared as a Britten-Pears Young Artist. She has also been a Wexford Festival Young Artist and sung at the Buxton and Longborough Festivals.

Daly is an active jazz singer, who performs regularly with her group in venues around London.
