American tenor Michael Fabiano made his Royal Opera debut in 2015 as Lensky (Eugene Onegin). In the 2017/18 Season he sings Rodolfo (La bohème) and the Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto).

Fabiano was born in New Jersey and studied at the University of Michigan School for Music, Theatre and Dance, on the apprentice scheme of Santa Fe Opera and at the Academy of Vocal Arts, Philadelphia. He made his professional stage debut in 2007 at Klagenfurt State Theatre as Alfredo (La traviata) and has since sung for companies including the Metropolitan Opera, New York, San Francisco Opera, Seattle Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Canadian Opera Company, Vancouver Opera, Florida Grand Opera, Opera Australia, Semperoper Dresden, Paris Opéra, Dutch National Opera, Teatro Comunale, Florence, Teatro Real, Madrid, Deutsche Oper Berlin, English National Opera and for Glyndebourne Festival. His repertory includes Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore), Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor), Gennaro (Lucrezia Borgia), the title role in Poliuto, Jacopo Foscari (I due Foscari), Corrado (Il corsaro), Rodolfo (Luisa Miller), Duke of Mantua, the title role in Don Carlo, Gounod’s Faust, Rodolfo (La bohème) and Christian (Cyrano de Bergerac).

Fabiano’s many concert appearances include the world premiere of the Prologue to Shostakovich’s unfinished opera Orango (Los Angeles Philharmonic and recorded for Deutsche Grammophon), Missa solemnis (San Francisco Symphony Orchestra), The Dream of Gerontius (Vienna Symphony Orchestra), Verdi’s Requiem (Oslo Philharmonic, San Francisco Opera) and a recital for Vocal Arts DC at the Kennedy Center. In 2014 Fabiano became the first person to receive the Beverly Sills Artist Award and the Richard Tucker Award in the same year. His other awards include Grand Prize at the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.
