Japanese dancer Mariko Sasaki is an Artist of The Royal Ballet. She trained at The Royal Ballet Upper School and in 2013 graduated into Birmingham Royal Ballet. She joined The Royal Ballet in 2014.
Sasaki was born in Tokyo and trained at the Yuriko Kawaguchi Ballet School, during which time she also danced with American Ballet Theatre and the Mariinsky Ballet. She was a finalist at the 2010 Prix de Lausanne, where she won a scholarship to study at The Royal Ballet Upper School. While at The School she danced with The Royal Ballet in productions including The Nutcracker and The Firebird. Sasaki’s repertory with BRB included dancing in such works as David Bintley’s The Prince of the Pagodas, E=mc2 and ‘Still Life’ at the Penguin Café, Peter Wright’s The Nutcracker, Kit Holder’s Quatrain and Frederick Ashton’s La Fille mal gardée.
Sasaki’s repertory with The Royal Ballet has included Florestan’s Sister (The Sleeping Beauty) and The Two Pigeons.
