Mezzo-soprano Maria Jones made her Royal Ballet debut in 2013 singing Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder in Alastair Marriott’s In the Hothouse on tour in Japan. She made her Royal Opera debut in the 2016/17 Season as an Apprentice (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg).
Jones trained at the Italia Conti Academy and the Royal Northern College of Music and made her professional debut with the D’Oyly Carte Opera, performing Iolanthe, Phoebe (The Yeomen of the Guard) and Pitti-Sing (The Mikado) at the Savoy Theatre. She has sung Rossweisse (Die Walküre) for the Philharmonia at the Royal Festival Hall under Andrew Davis, and covered Das Lied von der Erde at the Lincoln Center, New York, and for The Royal Ballet.
In opera Jones has sung Flosshilde (Das Rheingold) and Schwertleite/Siegrune (Die Walküre) for The Mastersingers and Mademoiselle Dangeville (Adriana Lecouvreur) and Suzy (La rondine) for Opera Holland Park, and has covered Grimgerde (Die Walküre) for Longborough Festival.
