Australian dancer Lania Atkins was part of The Royal Ballet’s Aud Jebsen Young Dancers Programme in the 2018/19 Season.
Atkins was born in Sydney and started ballet aged five. She trained at The Dance Spot in Sydney and was in The Australian Ballet’s Interstate Training Programme. She was awarded the Silver Medal at the 2015 Genee International Ballet Competition in London, and was first prize winner at the Sydney Eisteddfod Ballet Scholarship in 2016.
In 2016, following the Prix de Lausanne, Atkins joined the Dutch National Trainee Programme. She performed in La Bayadère and The Sleeping Beauty with Het Nationale Ballet and pas de deux at Assemblée Internationale in Toronto, the Gala Di Apertura in Lucca, the Gala Internazionale di Danza in Vicenza and Tanzgala in Osnabrück, Germany.
Atkins’ repertory included variations from Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux, Paquita, Raymonda, Grand Pas Classique, The Sleeping Beauty, La Bayadère, Le Corsaire, Animated Frescoes, Scènes de ballet, and contemporary pieces including Goyo Montero’s Bow.
