Katy Batho

Soprano

Biography

English soprano Katy Batho is a member of the Royal Opera Chorus, which she joined in 2011. She made her Royal Opera debut in 2008 as a Ker (The Minotaur, world premiere) and went on to sing Lap Dancer (Anna Nicole, world premiere), Spirit (Cendrillon), First Niece (Peter Grimes) and Molly Brazen (The Beggar’s Opera, Linbury Studio Theatre) for The Royal Opera. Since joining the Chorus her solo roles with The Royal Opera have included Novice (Suor Angelica), Georgette (La rondine) and Serving Maid (Die Frau ohne Schatten).

Batho studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She has sung for such companies as Garsington Opera, Grange Park Opera, English Touring Opera, Longborough Festival Opera and Raymond Gubbay Productions. Solo engagements include Emmie (Albert Herring) for Glyndebourne on Tour and Mabel (The Pirates of Penzance) for Carl Rosa Opera.

Batho’s discography includes The Beggar’s Opera under Christian Curnyn for Chandos.
