Biography

American dancer Julie Ann Joyner joined The Royal Ballet as the Prix de Lausanne dancer at the start of the 2023/24 season.


Born in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, Joyner began her dance training at three at the Dance Arts Center in Suwanee, Georgia. At thirteen, she received her formal ballet training at The International City School of Ballet under the direction of Ms. Georne Aucoin and Mr. Musashi Alvarez, graduating in 2023.

Joyner was awarded the Grand Prix Award, Fernando Bujones Memorial Award, and Gold Medal at the American Dance Competition IBC Finals in 2021-2023, the Grand Prix Award at World Ballet Competition in 2022, the Legacy Award at the Universal Ballet Competition in 2021-2023, the Silver Medal at the YAGP 2023 Season Finals, the Bronze Medal at the XII USA IBC, and the Maurice Bejart Foundation prize and Rudolf Nureyev Best Young Talent prize at the Prix de Lausanne in 2023.
