Spanish tenor Ismael Jordi made his Royal Opera debut in 2014, singing Roberto, Conte di Leicester (Maria Stuarda). He has since returned to sing Alfredo Germont (La traviata) and Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor). In the 2019/20 Season he returns as Edgardo.

Jordi was born in Jerez de la Frontera and studied at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía with Alfredo Kraus. He made his debut at the Teatro Villamarta in Jerez, singing Ernesto (Don Pasquale). He has since sung for opera companies around Europe, including for Deutsche Oper Berlin, Teatro Real, Madrid, Liceu, Barcelona, the Opéra-Comique and Opéra Bastille in Paris, and in Munich, Hamburg, Dresden, Frankfurt, Toulouse, Marseille, Bordeux, Strasbourg, Liège, Seville, Oviedo, Valencia, Bilbao, Vienna, Zürich, Lausanne, Macerata, Venice, Naples, Verona and Amsterdam. His repertory includes Tebaldo (I Capuleti e i Montecchi), Gennaro (Lucrezia Borgia), Edgardo, Riccardo Percy (Anna Bolena), Roberto (Roberto Devereux), Carlo (Linda di Chamounix), Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore), Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto), Alfredo Germont, Roméo (Roméo et Juliette), the title role in Faust, Wilhelm Meister (Mignon) and Des Grieux (Manon).

Jordi appears regularly in recital and in concert. His recordings include Martha with the Vienna Volksoper, La traviata with the Teatro Villamarta, Jerez, and Le Duc d’Albe with Opera Vlaanderen.
