British stage director Isabelle Kettle joins the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme in the 2019/20 Season. In her first Season she directs Susanna in the Linbury Theatre and the Jette Parker Young Artists Summer Performance on the main stage, and assists on several main stage productions.
Kettle graduated from Columbia University School of the arts with an MFA in Theatre Directing. She works in both opera and theatre, and her productions aim to share female-driven stories in innovative ways. Her opera experience includes directing for PopUp Opera at the Arcola Theatre’s Grimeborn Festival, and Dido and Aeneas for the Queille Festival with Mary Bevan and Christopher Bucknall. She has collaborated with artists from disciplines including film, poetry, visual art and dance.
Kettle’s theatre work in New York and London includes Melis Aker’s Manar, Sophocles’ Antigone, Sophie Treadwell’s Machinal, and adaptations of King Lear (Lear’s Daughters) and As You Like It (Arden Creatures) with Footfall, the theatre company she co-founded in 2014.
