Biography

American dancer Isabella Shaker joined The Royal Ballet as an Aud Jebsen Young Dancer at the start of the 2023/24 season.  

Shaker was born in Evanston, Illinois and began her training at the AFB Academy, The Evanston School of Ballet, and Chicago Ballet Arts before attending The Joffrey Academy of Dance. After auditioning for the Royal Ballet School in 2019, Shaker became a Royal Ballet School International Scholar and joined the Upper School in the fall of 2020. During her time at Upper School she received the Ballet Association Award in 2022. 

Performances as a student include the world premiere of Christopher Wheeldon’s The Nutcracker with The Joffrey Ballet, and with the Company, she danced in The Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and The Nutcracker.

In the School’s summer performances, Shaker performed in Raymonda Act III Pas de Trois, John Neumeier’s Yondering, and Moments by Joseph Toonga. In her graduation performance, she danced in Sechs Tänze by Jirí Kylián, Carlos Acosta’s Don Quixote Vision Scene, and Christopher Wheeldon’s Within the Golden Hour.
