Holly Waddington

Costume designer

Biography

British designer Holly Waddington made her Royal Ballet debut in 2015, creating costume designs for Hofesh Shechter’s Untouchable.

Waddington studied fine art at the Ruskin School of Drawing, Oxford University, and scenography at Trinity Laban. She was a finalist for the 2007 Linbury Prize for theatre design. Costume design credits in theatre and dance include Little Revolution (Almeida), Birdland (Royal Court), The Humans (Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art, Brooklyn Academy of Music), Like Rabbits (Ben Duke and Lucy Kirkwood) and It Needs Horses (Lost Dog). She has designed both sets and costumes for productions including Varmints (Sadler’s Wells), Crow (Handspring Puppet Company UK), Electra and Breathing Irregular (Gate Theatre) and Electra (Young Vic).

Waddington’s work in film has included costumes for Ginger & Rosa and Departure. Her film credits as assistant costume designer include Happy Go Lucky, War Horse, Lincoln and Another Year.
