British cellist Hetty Snell graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in 2012, where she studied with Josephine Knight. She has since held orchestral positions with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, before joining the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House in 2018. She has performed worldwide, including North and South America, Japan, China and across Europe. She has been invited to perform as guest principal cello in many orchestras including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Northern Sinfonia and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. As a chamber musician, Hetty has played quartets at the Royal Festival Hall and Wigmore Hall, and has toured across Europe and Australia. Aside from performing, Hetty has a passion for teaching and outreach work, including special educational needs and disabilities, and work in dementia care homes. She also enjoys tutoring the cello sections for the National Children’s Orchestra and the Nicola Benedetti Foundation.
