Biography

Pianist Grant Green joined the music staff of The Royal Ballet in 2014. He regularly accompanies The Royal Ballet in rehearsals and performances and has played piano and celesta with the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House in works by such composers as Gabriel Yared, Mátyás Seiber and Esa-Pekka Salonen. 

Green studied at the Royal Northern College of Music with Sulamita Aronovsky and began his career in 1992 as a freelancer with the Northern Chamber Orchestra. He was subsequently appointed to the music staff of Northern Ballet. He has also toured extensively as an orchestral pianist, with engagements including a recording of Claude-Michel Schönberg’s Cleopatra

Green is an active chamber musician and ensemble pianist, and has made two appearances in Northern Ballet’s recital series. Solo performances with orchestra include Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy with the North of England Classical Orchestra and Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue with Northern Ballet Sinfonia.
