Biography

British-Italian tenor Freddie de Tommaso won First Prize, the Plácido Domingo Tenor Prize and the Verdi Prize at the 2018 Viñas International Singing Competition. He is an exclusive recording artist on Decca and has released two albums. 2023/24 Season highlights include Mario Cavaradossi (Tosca) with Santa Fe Opera, Bergen National Opera and at Teatro Verdi di Salerno, Rodolfo (La bohème) at Teatro all Scala, Milan, Alfredo Germont (La traviata) at Arena di Verona Opera Festival and Staatsoper Berlin, Der Rosenkavalier at Staatsoper Berlin, Don José (Carmen) at Arena di Verona Opera Festival, Verdi’s Requiem with Orchestra National de Lyon and at Bergen International Festival, Verbier Festival, and Festival Verdi, Parma, as well as concert engagements at the Kissinger Sommer Festival, Festival Castell de Peralada, Mannheimer Philharmoniker, Teatre de Liceu, Barcelona. Recent engagements include Macduff (Macbeth) for Wiener Staatsoper, Rodolfo (La bohème) at the Royal Opera House, B.F. Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly) at Semperoper Dresden and Don José at Teatro Romano, Verona.
