Biography

British choreographer Emma Woods made her Royal Opera debut in the 2018/19 Season as the choreographer for Berenice in the Linbury Theatre. 

Woods trained at Northern Ballet School. She has performed widely as a dancer in musical theatre, including Kiss Me Kate (BBC Proms, Royal Albert Hall), Sister Act and Sinatra (Palladium), Dirty Dancing (Aldwych), Mary Poppins (Prince Edward), We Will Rock You (Dominion), Copacabana (Scandinavian tour), Cats (New London Theatre), Hot Stuff (UK tour), Oliver! and Singin’ in the Rain (Leicester Haymarket) and Spirit of the Dance (Reno, USA). Her film work includes Disney’s Cinderella

Woods has directed Musical Bites (Dance House Theatre, Manchester) and choreographed Eyam (Shakespeare’s Globe, for Adele Thomas), Cinderella (Basildon Towngate Theatre) and Spring Awakening (Catford Broadway Theatre). She was the assistant choreographer and Dance Captain for Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre) and associate choreographer for The King and I (London Palladium).
