Demelza Parish

Former Royal Ballet dancer


English dancer Demelza Parish is a former First Artist of The Royal Ballet. She trained at The Royal Ballet School and graduated into the Company in 2005, promoted to First Artist in 2016. She left the Company during the 2020/21 Season.

Parish grew up in Hull and began dancing aged two with her older brother Xander. She trained at Skelton Hooper School of Dance and Theatre before becoming a Junior Associate of The Royal Ballet School. She graduated into the School and was accepted into the Company in her second year at the Upper School. For her graduation performance she danced the white couple pas de deux (Les Patineurs) and a lead couple in La Valse.

Parish’s repertory with the Company included dancing with the corps de ballet in such ballets as La Sylphide, Giselle, Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty, Don Quioxte, La Bayadère, The Firebird, La Fille mal gardée, The Dream, Les Rendezvous, Jewels, The Rite of Spring, Manon, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and The Winter’s Tale.
