Dancer and choreographer Daphne Strothmann made her Royal Opera debut in 2004 as assistant to Michael Keegan-Dolan on the choreography for Faust, directed by David McVicar, and has worked as revival choreographer for many of the production’s revivals.
Strothmann was born and raised in Kenya and studied dance in England. She worked in Germany with Tanztheater Regenbogen, and later in Vienna, where she was a soloist with Tanztheater Wien and Vienna Volksoper. As a dancer her credits include in Liz King and Catherine Guerin’s Swan Lake Remix, Georg Reischl’s In dir irgendwo (with the Bill Forsythe Company), Nigel Charnock’s Meaty (with DV8) and Christoph Winkler’s Hinter den Linien (for ImPuls Tanz).
In 2003 she joined Keegan-Dolan’s Fabulous Beast Dance Theatre, where her repertory includes the title role in Giselle, and roles in The Bull, The Flowerbed, James Son of James and The Rite of Spring (a co-production with English National Opera).
