American tenor Brandon Jovanovich makes his Royal Opera debut in the 2017/18 Season as Sergey (Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk).
Jovanovich studied at Northern Arizona University and the Manhattan School of Music, and was the recipient of the 2007 Richard Tucker Award. He was a founding member of the Seattle Young Artists Program and a member of the Santa Fe Opera Apprentice Program. He appears regularly for such companies as the Metropolitan Opera, New York, San Francisco Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Los Angeles Opera, Dallas Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Opera Australia, Zürich Opera, Bavarian State Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Vienna State Opera, Paris Opéra and Salzburg Festival. His repertory includes Don José (Carmen), Enée (Les Troyens), Florestan (Fidelio), Lohengrin, Walther von Stolzing (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg), Froh (Das Rheingold), Siegmund (Die Walküre), Bacchus (Ariadne auf Naxos), Des Grieux (Manon Lescaut), Mario Cavaradossi (Tosca), Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly), Gherman (The Queen of Spades), Prince (Rusalka), Drum Major (Wozzeck), Walter (Weinberg’s The Passenger) and Sam (Floyd’s Susannah).
Jovanovich’s concert appearances include Missa solemnis with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and San Francisco Symphony with Michael Tilson Thomas, Glagolitic Mass with the Czech Philharmonic and Jirí Belohlávek at the Vienna Musikverein and Act I of Tosca with Sondra Radvanovsky, Bryn Terfel and the Boston Symphony Orchestra at Tanglewood Music Festival. His performance as Cavaradossi at Bregenz Festival featured in the film Quantum of Solace.
