First Artist of The Royal Ballet

Biography

South Korean dancer Bomin Kim is a First Artist of The Royal Ballet. She joined The Royal Ballet’s Aud Jebsen Young Dancers Programme from the start of the 2019/20 Season and was promoted to Artist in 2020 and First Artist in 2023.

Kim was born in Seoul, South Korea and began her training at the age of six. She trained at and graduated from Sunwha Art Middle School in South Korea. She participated in the 2015 Youth America Grand Prix and was awarded a scholarship to Canada's National Ballet School. Her performances with Canada's National Ballet School included The Sleeping Beauty Aurora solo at the Holland Dance Festival 2016, an excerpt from Chalkboard Memories by Demis Volpi at the Gala des Écoles de Danse du XXIE Siècle 2017 and Waltz Girl in Balanchine's Serenade at the Assemblée Internationale 2017 in Toronto. 

Kim joined The Royal Ballet School for third year. With The Royal Ballet School, she performed in The Cunning Little Vixen, La Valse, anexcerpt from Mats Ek's Swan Lake and Paquita. Professional engagements whilst a student at The Royal Ballet School have included dancing with The Royal Ballet in The NutcrackerDon QuixoteRomeo and JulietThe Firebird and Symphony in C

With the Company, her roles include Fairy of the Song Bird (The Sleeping Beauty), Neapolitan and cygnet (Swan Lake) and Juliet's Friend (Romeo and Juliet).
