Biography

British dancer Blake Smith joined The Royal Ballet as an Aud Jebsen Young Dancer at the start of the 2023/24 season.  

Raised in Gloucester, he began dance training at age five at local dance school Linda Virgoe Dance Studios, later joining The Royal Ballet School’s Junior Associates Programme in 2013. Two years later Blake then joined The Royal Ballet School White Lodge at age 11, and continued to train at the school for eight years.

Performances whilst at the School include roles in Christopher Wheeldon’s Within the Golden Hour, Jiří Kylián’s Sechs Tänze, John Neumeier’s Yondering, Joseph Toonga’s Moments, and Mikaela Polley’s Fast Blue. Whilst a student he was also involved in performances with the Company, including The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Frankenstein, and Woolf Works.
