American soprano Audrey Luna made her Royal Opera debut in the 2016/17 Season as Leticia (The Exterminating Angel, role creation).
Luna studied at Portland State University, Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and on the apprentice programmes of Santa Fe Opera and Pittsburgh Opera, where her roles included Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflöte). Her roles with the Metropolitan Opera, New York, include Queen of the Night, Ariel (The Tempest), Olympia (Les Contes d’Hoffmann), Naiad (Ariadne auf Naxos) and Fiakermilli (Arabella). Other opera engagements include Zerbinetta (Ariadne auf Naxos) for Virginia Opera, Fort Worth Opera and Tanglewood Festival, Queen of the Night for La Fenice, Venice, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Rome Opera, Spoleto Festival and Santa Fe Opera, Lakmé for Opéra de Montréal, Olympia for Norwegian National Opera, Ariel for Vienna State Opera, Chiang Ch’ing (Nixon in China) for Wide Open Opera, Leticia for Salzburg Festival and Venus and Gepopo (Le Grand Macabre) in semi-staged performance with the London Symphony Orchestra and Berlin Philharmonic.
Luna has appeared in concert with orchestras including the Colorado Symphony, San Francisco Symphony, Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, American Symphony Orchestra, New York Philharmonic and LA Philharmonic, in such repertory as Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Mass in C Minor, Carmina Burana, Debussy’s Le Martyre de Saint Sébastien, Crumb’s Star-Child and Chin’s Cantatrix Sopranica.
