Biography

Romanian soprano Anita Hartig made her Royal Opera debut in 2013 as Mimì (La bohème) and has since returned to sing Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro).
Hartig was born in Bistrita and studied at the Gheorghe Dima Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca. She was invited to join the Vienna State Opera as a member of the company while still a student. For the Vienna State Opera she has sung Susanna, Micaëla (Carmen), Mimì, Musetta (La bohème) and Pamina (Die Zauberflöte). She made her UK debut as Mimì with Welsh National Opera and has also sung the role to great acclaim for Bavarian State Opera, Paris Opéra, the Metropolitan Opera, New York, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Hamburg State Opera and La Scala, Milan.
Hartig’s other engagements include Susanna in Tokyo and for Bavarian State Opera, Micaëla for the Metropolitan Opera, Liù (Turandot) for Bavarian State Opera and Violetta Valéry (La traviata) for Liceu, Barcelona. Her concert engagements include Lieder recitals in London and Vienna and orchestral repertory in Turin and Moscow and at the Enescu Festival, Bucharest. She studies with fellow Romanian soprano Ileana Cotrubas.
