Welsh mezzo-soprano Angharad Rowlands makes her Royal Opera debut in the 2018/19 Season as Second Bridesmaid (Le nozze di Figaro).
Rowlands studied Art History at the University of St Andrews. During her studies she was selected to join the Monteverdi Choir Apprenticeship Programme. She has since worked internationally with the Monteverdi Choir both as a member of the chorus and as a soloist. Her solo appearances with the ensemble include Bach’s St Matthew Passion at Palau de la Música, Barcelona, Philharmonie de Paris and the Kursaal, San Sebastián as well as the role of Endless Pleasure in a semi-staged production of Handel’s Semele directed by Thomas Guthrie.
Solo engagements elsewhere include Handel’s Dixit Dominus with the Orchestra of The Sixteen for Eamonn Dougan, Janácek’s Glagolitic Mass with Highgate Choral Society and Bach’s Mass in B Minor at St Martin-in-the-Fields with Brandenburg Sinfonia.
