Andi A. Müller

Biography

In the 2013/14 Season Andi A. Müller makes his Royal Opera debut designing the video for Die Frau ohne Schatten, a co-production with La Scala, Milan.

Müller was born in Basel and studied video art there and at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. In 1989 he began working as a live video performer and video artist. He participated in exhibitions at venues including the Anthology Film Archives, New York, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Seoul and the Kunsthalle, Basel.

In 2004 he began work as a video designer for opera and theatre at Basel Theatre. He has since worked in many leading European opera houses and theatres. His work for Claus Guth includes the Mozart/Da Ponte operas (Salzburg Festival), Lohengrin (La Scala) and Parsifal (Liceu, Barcelona). Other opera work includes Mathis der Maler (Zürich Opera), for Matthias Hartmann. He works regularly as a video designer for plays at the Zürich Playhouse.
