Italian baritone Alessio Arduini made his Royal Opera debut in 2013 as Schaunard (La bohème) and has since returned to sing Guglielmo (Così fan tutte). He returns in the 2019/20 Season to sing Schaunard (La bohème).

Arduini was born in Desenzano del Garda and studied with Vincenzo Rose. In 2010 he received a scholarship from the Lina Aimaro Bertasi Foundation and that year made his professional debut as Don Giovanni for Teatro Sociale di Como. He joined the ensemble of Vienna State Opera in 2012, where his roles have included Masetto (Don Giovanni), Marcello (La bohème), Belcore (L’elisir d’amore), Dr Malatesta (Don Pasquale), Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Guglielmo, Dandini (La Cenerentola) and Count Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro).

Engagements elsewhere include Don Giovanni for La Fenice, Venice, Bavarian State Opera, Teatro Comunale di Bologna and Teatro Petruzzelli, Bari, Schaunard, Rossini’s Figaro and Dandini for Paris Opéra, Riccardo (I puritani) for Teatro Comunale Ponchielli, Cremona, Guglielmo for Bavarian State Opera, Teatro Regio, Turin, the Teatro di San Carlo, Naples, and La Fenice, Venice, Guglielmo, Masetto and Silvio (Pagliacci) for Salzburg Festival, Schaunard for Salzburg Festival, La Fenice and Metropolitan Opera, New York, Dandini for Dutch National Opera and Papageno (Die Zauberflöte) in Florence and for Rome Opera.
