In the 2013/14 Season South Korean tenor Yonghoon Lee sings Don José in The Royal Opera's production of Carmen. He made his Company debut in the 2012/13 Season as Cavaradossi (Tosca).

Lee studied at the Seoul National University and at Mannes College, The New School for Music, New York. After performing widely in South Korea he made his international debut in 2007 as the title role in Don Carlo at the Teatro Municipal in Santiago. He has gone on to make his debuts at leading opera houses around the world. His repertory includes Rodolfo (La bohème), Don José, Turiddu (Cavalleria rusticana), Calaf (Turandot) and Manrico (Il trovatore), at opera houses including the Metropolitan Opera, New York, La Scala, Milan, Deutsche Oper Berlin and the Lyric Opera of Chicago.

Lee's numerous awards include first prize at the Licia Albanese-Puccini Foundation International Vocal Competition.
