Canadian dancer Matthew Golding is a Principal with The Royal Ballet. He trained at The Royal Ballet Upper School on a Prix de Lausanne scholarship and joined the Company as a Principal in February 2014, having appeared with the Company as a Guest Artist in the previous Season as Solor (La Bayadère). Since joining the Company his roles have included Prince Florimund (The Sleeping Beauty), Oberon (The Dream) and roles in Serenade and DGV: Danse à grande vitesse.

Golding was born in Saskatchewan and from the age of 14 trained at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, joining the Universal Ballet Academy in Washington D.C. aged 16. In 2002 he won the Youth America Grand Prix and a Prix de Lausanne scholarship to study at The Royal Ballet School. On graduating in 2003 he joined American Ballet Theatre. In 2009 he joined Dutch National Ballet as a second soloist, promoted to principal in 2010, and continues to dance as a guest artist with the company. He makes regular guest appearances around the world with companies including the Mariinsky Ballet, Tokyo Ballet, Teatro de Roma, English National Ballet and National Ballet of Canada, and at the Nureyev Ballet Festival and the Japan International Ballet Festival. Roles include Solor, Van Dantzig’s Romeo, Basilio (Ratmansky's Don Quixote) and Prince (Wheeldon’s Cinderella and Wright’s The Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker).

Golding's awards include the Zwan Prize (2010), the Alexandra Radius Prize (2011) and nominations for the Benois de la danse Prize (2012 and 2013).
