Jette Parker Young Artist
Portuguese tenor Luis Gomes joined The Royal Opera's Jette Parker Young Artist Programme in the 2013/14 Season. In his first Season with The Royal Opera he sings Fourth Esquire (Parsifal), Pong (Turandot), Gastone de Letorières (La traviata) and Lamplighter (Manon Lescaut) on the main stage and Miller (El gato con botas) in the Linbury Studio Theatre.
Gomes studied at the Lisbon Music Conservatory, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the National Opera Studio on a scholarship from the Royal Opera House, and is currently a Samling Scholar. His roles have included Jeník (The Bartered Bride) with British Youth Opera and Leandro (La Spinalba), Beppe (Rita) and Fenton (Die lustige Weiber von Windsor) for GSMD.
Gomes's recent concert performance have included the premiere of Raymond Yiu's My Fatal Plurality at the Wigmore Hall, Verdi's Requiem in Newcastle, a concert with the BBC Symphony Orchestra at the Barbican and an appearance at Portugal's largest ever opera gala.
