Portuguese tenor Luis Gomes joined The Royal Opera's Jette Parker Young Artist Programme in the 2013/14 Season. His roles have included Fourth Esquire (Parsifal), Pong (Turandot), Gastone de Letorières (La traviata), Chevalier de la Force (Dialogues des Carmélites), Lamplighter (Manon Lescaut) and Fernand (La Favorite Act I, JPYAP summer performance) on the main stage and Miller (El gato con botas) in the Linbury Studio Theatre. In the 2014/15 Season his roles include Dorvil (La scala di seta, Meet the Young Artists Week), Borsa (Rigoletto), Albazar (Il turco in Italia) and Gastone de Letorières (La traviata).

Gomes studied at the Lisbon Music Conservatory, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the National Opera Studio on a scholarship from the Royal Opera House, and is currently a Samling Scholar. His roles have included Jeník (The Bartered Bride) with British Youth Opera and Leandro (La Spinalba), Beppe (Rita) and Fenton (Die lustige Weiber von Windsor) for GSMD.

Gomes's concert performances include the premiere of Raymond Yiu's My Fatal Plurality at the Wigmore Hall, Verdi's Requiem in Newcastle, a concert with the BBC Symphony Orchestra at the Barbican and an appearance at Portugal's largest ever opera gala.
