British tenor John Daszak made his Royal Ballet debut in 1994 singing in Renard and his Royal Opera debut in 1996 as Otumbo (Alzira in concert). He has since returned to the Royal Opera House to sing Song of the Earth for The Royal Ballet and Antonio (The Tempest, world premiere), Count Elemer (Arabella), Zinovy Ismailov (Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk) and Aegisth (Elektra) for The Royal Opera. He returns in the 2017/18 Season to sing Herod (Salome) and Zinovy Ismailov.
Daszak studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, the Royal Northern College of Music and the Accademia d’Arte Lirica, Osimo. His engagements have included Siegfried (Götterdämmerung) for the Theatro Municipal, São Paulo, Captain Vere (Billy Budd) for the Metropolitan Opera, New York, Sergei (Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk) and Pierre (War and Peace) for English National Opera and Jim Mahoney (Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny) for Komische Oper Berlin.
Daszak’s concert performances have included Gurrelieder under Bertrand de Billy at the Enescu Festival, Budapest, Verdi’s Requiem under David Robertson with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and Beethoven’s Symphony no.9 under Vladimir Jurowski with the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
