Florence Garel

Biography

French violinist Florence Garel is Assistant Concert Master of the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House. She was appointed to the position in 2013.

Garel started playing the violin aged four and trained at the Conservatoire national de musique in Lyon, the University of Southern California, Southern Methodist University and Manhattan School of Music. She was a member of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte Carlo and London Philharmonic Orchestra before joining the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House in 2011.

Garel has co-led the LPO and and the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, and has toured worldwide with orchestras including BBC Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre National de Lyon and Orchestre de l’Opéra de Lyon.
