Scottish mezzo-soprano Elizabeth Sikora began her professional career as a member of the Royal Opera Chorus and has since sung many solo roles for The Royal Opera, including Third Lady (Die Zauberflöte), Giovanna (Rigoletto), Annina (La traviata), Maddalena (Linda di Chamounix in concert), Teresa (La sonnambula), Spirit of Antonia’s Mother (Les Contes d’Hoffmann), Rossweisse (Die Walküre), Filipyevna (Eugene Onegin), Innkeeper’s Wife (The Cunning Little Vixen), Mistress of the Novices (Suor Angelica), Dubious Old Lady (The Gambler), Third Maid (Elektra) and Mère Jeanne (Dialogues des Carmélites) for The Royal Opera. Sikora also has a long association with The Royal Ballet, singing for such ballets as Mayerling and Les Noces.
Sikora’s engagements elsewhere include Prole Woman (1984) for La Scala, Milan, Mrs Sedley (Peter Grimes) for the Grand Théâtre de Genève, Susanna (Khovanshchina) for English National Opera, Filipyevna for Opera Holland Park, Wife (Langer’s The Lion’s Face) for The Opera Group and many roles for Chelsea Opera Group, including Madame de la Haltière (Cendrillon). In dance she has sung Mahler’s Rückert Lieder for English National Ballet.
Sikora performs widely in concert in the main oratorio repertory. Her recordings include DVDs of Rigoletto with The Royal Opera and of Mayerling and Les Noces with The Royal Ballet.
