As Metamorphosis: Titian 2012 leaves the Covent Garden stage, fans of the work of Christopher Wheeldon can console themselves with this clip of the choreographer rehearsing Polyphonia. Originally part of Royal Ballet Live, the video features Christopher rehearsing the piece with artists including Leanne Benjamin, Sarah Lamb and the recently promoted Beatriz Stix-Brunell and Alexander Campbell.

Polyphonia was created in 2001 for New York City Ballet. It was most recently performed by The Royal Ballet in a triple bill with Wayne McGregor’s Carbon Life and Liam Scarlett’s Sweet Violets.

The next chance to see work by Christopher on the ROH stage is the one-act ballet Fool’s Paradise in November. Other works by Wheeldon coming up in the 2012/13 season include an as yet untitled new commission (22 February – 14 March, in a triple bill with new works by Alexei Ratmansky and George Balanchine’s Apollo) and Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (15 March – 13 April).
