As part of the Autumn Season, The Royal Ballet are to perform for the first time choreographer and Artistic Associate Christopher Wheeldon‘s Fool’s Paradise.

Staged alongside Wayne McGregor’s Infra and Liam Scarlett’s Viscera, the work is an abstract ballet to a score by Joby Talbot, with whom Christopher worked on the acclaimed Alice’s Adventure’s in Wonderland. Fool’s Paradise contains a moving pas de deux, rehearsed in this clip by Principals Sarah Lamb and Federico Bonelli, which builds to a glittering arrangement for the whole ensemble as gold petals shower down onto the stage.

Last season we filmed a rehearsal of Christopher’s ballet Polyphonia as part of Royal Ballet Live. Watch footage of Christopher rehearsing Polyphonia.

As well as Fool’s Paradise and Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, a brand new work by Christopher will also be staged during the 2012/13 season, opening on 22 February 2013 alongside a new work from Alexei Ratmansky and George Balanchine’s Apollo.

Fool’s Paradise runs from 3 – 14 November as part of a mixed programme.
