Update for Friends of Covent Garden: December 2015

Christmas trees, Russian opera and sparkling secret messages.

With the performances of The Nutcracker in full swing and our wonderful Christmas tree in the Paul Hamlyn Hall, we know that Christmas is around the corner. This year the tree is decorated with messages from supporters of the Pointe Shoes Appeal, on a very appropriate pointe shoe-shaped card. We received some very touching notes, but one anonymous donor had taken particular care with their missive: decorating it with sparkling gems and sewing real ribbon onto the shoes! If you know the person who sent this message we’d love to hear from them.

The revival of Eugene Onegin opens on Saturday with Semyon Bychkov in the pit, bringing all the visceral emotions to the surface, not to be missed.

I would like to thank all the Friends who have supported us so generously over the last year and many years prior to that.  Everyone in the ROH is extremely grateful to you and we very much rely on your continued support.

My team and I are always happy to hear from so please email us with your comments and views membership@roh.org.uk.

With best wishes for the holiday and a very Happy New Year!
