Update: Read Ailyn and Stephen's answers to your questions

On Thursday 8 May, American opera singers Ailyn Pérez and Stephen Costello will be joining us for a live Q&A on Twitter at 1pm BST before their Royal Opera performances in La traviata.

What we'll be asking them is up to you, so send us your questions via the comments area below, or on Twitter using the hashtag #AskTheSingers. The duo are a couple off stage as well as on, having met when studying at the Academy of Vocal Arts. You may want to ask them what it's like performing on stage with your real-life partner, how they manage their successful individual careers or anything else you'd like to know.

We'll ask Ailyn and Stephen a selection of your questions via our feed from 2pm on the day, so make sure you follow @TheRoyalOpera on Twitter before then. Recent Q&As include ‘twinterviews’ with singers Joyce DiDonatoErmonela Jaho and John Tomlinson as well as The Royal Ballet’s Lauren CuthbertsonMarianela Nuñez and Thiago Soares and Yuhui Choe.

Could you each name an operatic role that you feel would be ideal for the other to add to their repertoire? Why do you think this role would particularly suit him/her?

How do you cope with the long distance relationship required by both having international careers? Do you seek out opportunities to work together or do you feel it's important not to be pigeon-holed as a "love couple"?

    Anyway, congratulations from afar !!

What's your favourite duet on the new album, and what was it like recording it together?
