A pair of pointe shoes signed by former Royal Ballet Principal Mara Galeazzi, and worn at her final Covent Garden performance, have been won by Pointe Shoes Appeal supporter Ms C Tonkiss.

Everyone who gave a donation - of any size - to this year’s Pointe Shoes Appeal, was entered into a prize draw to win a very special pair of shoes: one of the two pairs that Mara wore for her final performance as Mary Vetsera in Mayerling. The performance saw her partnered by Edward Watson as Crown Prince Rudolf.

Edward and Mara fronted this year’s Pointe Shoes campaign, which aimed to raise awareness of the amount of effort, commitment and cost that goes into preparing footwear for The Royal Ballet - the cost of which is over £250,000 a Season.

Hundreds of you generously responded and have helped us raise £30,000 since the campaign launched in April. Thank you.

We continue to welcome your donations and would like to congratulate Ms C Tonkiss, who has been supporting the appeal since 2009, on winning Mara’s special shoes.
