Rodula Gaitano’s production of Haydn’s little-known L’isola disabitata (The Uninhabited Island) will be broadcast on ABC Classic FM in Australia on Sunday 21 July at 7pm (10am GMT+ 1). You can also listen online in the UK.

The performance features three former Jette Parker Young Artists, sopranos Madeleine Pierard and Anna Devin, and baritone Changhan Lim, performing with tenor Ed Lyon and conductor Oliver Gooch. The production was nominated for a Helpmann Award (the winner will be announced on 29 July).

The production, which received rapturous acclaim on its premiere in the Linbury Studio Theatre as part of Meet the Young Artists Week in 2010, was recorded in April as part of the inaugural Hobart Baroque Festival.

The festival, directed by Leo Schofield, celebrated the music of the 17th and 18th centuries with nine days of performance by international and local musicians.
