Everyone who makes the generous and thoughtful decision to leave a gift to the Royal Opera House in their will is invited to join the Royal Opera House Baton Associates so that we can thank donors for their future support with two special annual events where they can find out more about our work and our plans. In the past, Baton Associates have enjoyed access to intimate opera recitals by the Jette Parker Young Artists and Royal Ballet stage rehearsals including The Nutcracker.

November is Will Aid month across the UK and at the Royal Opera House Bizet’s Carmen is just about to take to the stage, while in the ballet studios Carlos Acosta is currently finessing his own balletic adaptation of the tale. In choreographing new work and inspiring the next generation of dancers, Carlos is creating his own legacy:

'I have been with The Royal Ballet since 1998 and this Season I am incredibly excited to be choreographing an adaptation of Carmen for The Royal Ballet', he says. 'I want it to be something the Company can claim as their own and unlike anything else out there. I’m working with Principals and some exciting young dancers. It is important to inspire the next generation. They are the ones that will lead the Company in the future.'

This Season, the Baton Associates are supporting both versions of Carmen, in addition to other productions, and will be seeing a stage rehearsal for the ballet.

'My wife and I joined the Baton Associates in appreciation of all that takes place at the Royal Opera House and to contribute to the continuation of the artistic excellence we have enjoyed over many years', says Stuart Steele. 'We believe the existence of the Baton Associates will help to ensure similar enjoyment for future generations.'

We are very grateful to everyone who decides to leave a gift in their will, no matter how big or small, to support our future work.

Find out more about joining the Baton Associates or telephone Pippa Lee on +44 (0)20 7212 9110.

The Royal Opera House is a registered charity and your support makes a very real difference to our work.
