La traviata DVD nominated for Grammy award
Release nominated in the Best Recorded Opera category.
The DVD release of La traviata has been nominated for a Grammy in the Best Recorded Opera category. The Opus Arte release features Antonio Pappano, Joseph Calleja, Renée Fleming and Thomas Hampson as well as the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House and the Royal Opera Chorus.
Other nominations in the category include Glyndebourne‘s Billy Budd (Also released via Opus Arte), The Metropolitan Opera‘s Doctor Atomic, Europa Galante‘s Ercole su’l Termodonte and the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra‘s Kaivos.
Conductor Antonio Pappano has been nominated in three categories overall. The Royal Opera House Music Director has also been nominated for his recording of Rachmaninov’s Piano Concertos Nos. 3 & 4 with London Symphony Orchestra (Best Engineered Album and Best Classical Instrumental Solo).
The 54th Grammy awards will be held on 12 February 2012.
