With David McVicar’s production of Rigoletto once more on the Royal Opera House stage at the end of the month, Director of Opera Kasper Holten previews the return of a modern classic:

Featuring a number of famous tunes and a dark and brooding staging, Rigoletto showcases the composorial mastery of Giuseppe Verdi and directorial skill of David McVicar. David will also direct a revival of Salome and new production of Les Troyens in 2012, as well as a revival of Die Zauberflöte in 2013.

Rigoletto will be broadcast live into cinemas internationally on 17 April. Details of all participating venues are available here.
