American mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato is relishing the chance to revisit the quirky heroine of Massenet’s fairytale opera Cendrillon. She first sang the part in the same production in Santa Fe in 2006.  Here, she talks about how the ‘good girl has karmic connections that actually work out for her,’ and how director Laurent Pelly has taken all the saccharine out of the Fairy Godmother to make her a ‘bit of a punk rocker’.

Cendrillon is on the main stage from 5 July – 16 July 2011. Find out more here.
