Join us for the launch of our Live Cinema Season
Limited free tickets available at 12 locations around the UK, exclusively for our social media followers.
With our new Cinema Season just around the corner, we’re holding a press launch event simultaneously at 12 locations across the country at 10am on 4 October.
We’ve managed to secure a limited number of tickets, which will allow our social media followers a first glimpse of what’s coming up.
As well as previews of the season, the events will feature members of the executive team of The Royal Ballet and The Royal Opera being interviewed about their work alongside artists talking about the experience of being beamed live to over 800 cinemas in 26 countries.
For a chance to attend one of these events, email your name and location choice to cinemalaunch@roh.org.uk. Places are allocated on a first come, first served basis and we regret we will only be able to get back to those we have space for.
Cinema Season launch locations:
- Birmingham Empire
- Brighton Odeon
- Bristol Showcase
- Cambridge Picturehouse
- Cardiff Odeon
- Glasgow Cineworld
- Leeds Vue
- London Covent Garden Odeon
- Manchester Odeon
- Newcastle Empire
- Nottingham Showcase
- Plymouth Vue
Our cinema season opens on 23 October with a live relay of Swan Lake. After that, productions will be screened each month throughout the 2012/13 Season.

Sounds great but why at 10am? Few people are likely to be able to make it because of work plus it's an odd time to go to the cinema (or a live performance) anyway. Disappointing this isn't to be held in the evening
Hi Jane,
The event was originally for Press but we decided to open it up to those of our social media following who were free. While this event is in the morning (and sorry if you can't make it), we are looking at putting together other events in future specially for our social media following and will endeavor to have these at times that are more convenient to our general audience.
I hope you enjoy the Cinema Season anyway (we'll have extracts of these launch events online afterwards).
Thanks,
Chris

I would actually be free to come and watch at that time, but why nothing ever north of Glasgow? We so rarely get quality ballet in the Highlands yet every time the ballet visits us, the theatres, cinemas are packed before you can blink an eye!
Why do you not come East of Cambridge? A cimena near me is a 5 hour round trip. Why not Ipswich?
thanks
Hi Sam
We are running a small number of events to mark the start of our cinema season. These were originally only for members of the Press, but we thought some of our audience might be interested in coming along. Hopefully you will be able to access our standard screenings more easily, although this does also depend on the cinemas themselves. We would like to screen our performances in as many cinemas as possible!
Best wishes
Ellen
I live near BELFAST N.IRELAND. Any chance that we in NI can receive coverage somewhere of the lovely Ballet performances- please? DON'T FORGET US!
Hi Diane
Glad to say that Swan Lake will be broadcast live to Odeon, Victoria Square, Belfast:

Thank you for the ticket for the 4th, sounds great!
What time do you expect the event in London to finish?
Hi,
Thanks for your message. It shouldn't last more than an hour but we're afraid we can only allocate space for those who have received an email confirmation from us.
Thanks
Chris
